Of Friar Sixtus of Siena, of the Order of Preachers: On those who have assailed the volumes of the Old Testament, or, Against the destroyers of the old Scripture (De his qui veteris testamenti volumina oppugnarunt, sive adversus veteris scripturae destructores) — the Eighth Book of the Bibliotheca Sancta
PRAEFATIO [Preface]
We demolished (Destruximus) in the preceding, seventh volume all the heresies which, from these times down [to our own], have arisen against the evangelical and apostolic scriptures of the New Testament: now, the order of disputation leading on, we subjoin to this work the Eighth and last book, pursuing in it the exposition and confutation of those heresies which, at various times, divers heretics stirred up against the Mosaic, the Prophetic, the Parenetic [hortatory], and the Historical books of the Old Instrument. Which being completed — the divine power favoring [us] — our labor will find the wished-for end of our whole work.
