Question 207. What is the mode of conceiving?
QUAESTIO CCVII. Quis modus concipiendi?
Post haec quaeritur de modo concipiendi.
Et videtur, quod fuerit creatio.
1. Dominus non est seminans, sed per Spiritum sanctum creans: ergo fuit creatio.
2. Item, Cum duplex sit principium, movens scilicet et mutans, et mutatio et creatio sit opus solius primi, et illud quod immediate exit a primo principio, est creatio: sed conceptio ista immediate fuit a Deo: ergo fuit creatio.
3. Item, Quidquid fit subito, non est motus, sed creatio, vel mutatio: sed ista conceptio facta fuit subito: ergo fuit creatio.
4. Item, Jerem. XXXI, 22: Creavit Dominus novum super terram: Foemina circumdabit virum: sed illa conceptio fuit circumdatio: ergo conceptio fuit creatio: ergo, etc. 1.
QUESTION 207. What is the mode of conceiving?
After these things inquiry is made concerning the mode of conceiving.
And it seems that it was creation.
1. The Lord is not sowing, but creating through the Holy Spirit; therefore it was creation.
2. Likewise, since there is a twofold principle, namely moving and changing, and change and creation are the work of the first alone, and that which immediately goes out from the first principle is creation; but this conception was immediately from God; therefore it was creation.
3. Likewise, whatever comes to be suddenly is not motion, but creation or change; but this conception was made suddenly; therefore it was creation.
4. Likewise, Jeremiah 31:22: The Lord has created a new thing upon the earth: a woman will encompass a man. But that conception was an encompassing; therefore the conception was creation; therefore, etc. 1.
