Question 74. Whether the beatitude of hunger and thirst for justice was in her
QUAESTIO LXXIV.
Utrum beatitudo esuriei et sitis justitiae fuerit in ipsa?
Consequenter quaeritur de beatitudine esuriei et siti justitiae.
Et videtur, quod similiter fuerit in ea excellentius.
1. Esurire et sitire proprium est viatorum, saturatum esse proprium est comprehensorum: sed inter esurire et saturatum esse medium est comedere: sed cum nihil sit vacuum, cum exstant extrema, exstat et medium: sed medium pertinet ad statum medium: ille autem status est beatissimae Virginis: ergo habebit istam beatitudinem citra comprehensores, et supra viatores.
2. Item, Ejus consolatio est aliis improportionabilis: ergo, etc.
3. Item, Justitia in beata Virgine fuit improportionabilis aliis: ergo et ejus esuries 1.
QUESTION 74.
Whether the beatitude of hunger and thirst for justice was in her.
Consequently inquiry is made concerning the beatitude of hunger and thirst for justice.
And it seems that likewise it was in her more excellently.
1. To hunger and thirst is proper to wayfarers; to be filled is proper to comprehensors. But between hungering and being filled, the middle is to eat. But since nothing is empty, when the extremes exist, the middle exists too. But the middle pertains to the middle state; and that state belongs to the most blessed Virgin. Therefore she will have this beatitude short of comprehensors and above wayfarers.
2. Likewise, her consolation is disproportionate to others; therefore, and so forth.
3. Likewise, justice in the blessed Virgin was disproportionate to others; therefore so too was her hunger 1.
