eam habere minorem: eo quod minor in tertia figura non potest esse simpliciter negativa, sicut nec in prima. Relinquitur igitur quod habeant eam majorem: oportet igitur quod in modis negativis universalis de inesse negativa sit et major, et haec est causa suppositionis.

have it as the minor, because the minor in the third figure cannot be simply negative, just as neither can it be in the first. Therefore it remains that they have it as the major; therefore in the negative modes the universal negative of inherence must also be the major, and this is the cause of the supposition.
