[BOOK THREE. THE SECOND PART OF THE BOOK, ON THOSE THINGS WHICH HAPPENED AFTER THE CROSSING OF THE JORDAN.]
The [things] which, after the Israelites had crossed the Jordan, were done, this book hereafter hands down — beginning from verse 19 of the begun fourth chapter, as I have already noted above. For [there] were three remaining [matters] there which give the beginning to this second part of the book: namely, the laying-out [measuring] of the camp, the setting-up of the stones taken from the Jordan, and the cause of this. But the [things] which were done after these [are] either before the wars, at Gilgal (ch. 5); or the wars themselves, from ch. 6; or after the wars, from ch. 13. Our Possevino, moreover, notes in the Apparatus (Tome 1) that [one] Antonius wrote a “Triumph on the Entry into the Land of Promise.” But as yet I have had no opportunity of seeing that work.
