The Royal Privilege

SUMMARY OF THE PRIVILEGE.

It is provided by the King’s authority that no one, in the Kingdom of France or [in] other places subject to his dominion, shall — within six years, without the permission of Edmund Martin, printer of Paris — print or sell “A Commentary of Nicolaus Serarius, of the Society of Jesus, Theologian, on the book of Joshua, divided into two volumes”; a fine being imposed, after the publication of the copies, if anyone shall have done otherwise, as is more fully contained in the diploma itself. Paris, 16 November 1609.

Thus signed, By the King’s mandate,

POTIER.
