SHULAMITE, or Sulamite. This is the Name that is given to the Spouse in the Canticles, as by way of Allusion to the Name of Solomon; Salomon, Salomith, Sulamite,Can. vi. 13. or Shulamite, the Spouse of Solomon. The Hebrew Text, and the best Latin Editions, read Sulamitis; but the greatest Part of the old Books have Sunamitis, as it were a Native of Sunam, or Shunem.
