Nimrah

Jerem. xlviii. 34. Isai. xv. 6. Hieronym in If. xv. 6. Numb. xxxii. 3.NIMRAH, or Nemra, a City of the Tribe of Gad, or rather of Reuben, to the East of the Dead Sea. Eusebius upon the Word Nebra says, that there is a large Village in Batanea call’d Nabara. I make no doubt but that Nemra, Nimra, Nimrim, Nemrim, and Beth-nemra, are the same City. Jeremiah speaks of Nimrim and its pleasant Waters. Isaiah also makes Mention of the Waters of Nimrim. St. Jerom says, that Nimrim is situated upon the dead Sea, and that its Name Nimrim comes from the Bitterness of its Waters, which have contracted this quality only since the Desolation of this City, as had been denounced by the Prophets Isaiah and Jeremiah.
