Ludim

Gen. x. 13.LUDIM, the Son of Mizraïm. Josephus affirmed, that the Descendants of Ludim had been a long Time extinct, and that they were destroyed in the Ethiopian Wars. The Jerusalem1 Paraphrast translates Ludim, the Inhabitants of the Mareotis, Part of Egypt: But Bochart maintains, that we should read, the Land of Meroe, or Meroitis. The Paraphrast Jonathan translates it, those of the Canton of Neut, or Neout, in Egypt; the Arabick, the Inhabitants of Tenezus, near Pelusium. Ezekiel places the Ludim with Cush and Phut, and elsewhere with Phut and Pharas, or perhaps Pathros. These People were in Egypt: But it is not easy to shew exactly where the Ludim dwelt.
