Incendium

Numb. xi. 3. Deut. ix. 22. תבערה Tabiera.INCENDIUM. The name of Incendium or Incensio, in Hebrew, Taberah, was given to the incampment whither the Hebrews came after they had decamped from Sinai. This place was so called because God, being provoked by the murmurs of the Israelites, who complained that they had no flesh to eat, sent a fire among them, which consumed them that were in the uttermost parts of the Camp, and destroyed a great number of the Israelites.
