Hadasha

HADASHA, or Chadassa, a Town in Judah. Josh. xv. 37. Eusebius says, it lay near Taphnæ. St. Jerom read it Gophnæ; but remarks, that this was a mistake. The Rabbins say, that it was one of the smallest Towns in Judah, and that there were but fifty houses in it. The true reading of Eusebius is, in my opinion, Taphna, and not Taphnæ or Gophnæ.
