FORTUNATUS, of whom there is mention made in the first Epistle of St. Paul to the Corinthians, came from Corinth to Ephesus, to make a visit to St. Paul. We are not acquainted with the particulars either of his life or death: only that St. Paul calls Stephanus, Fortunatusxix. 23. and Achaïcus the first fruits of Achaia, and says, that they were set apart for the service of the Church and Saints. Stephanus, Fortunatus, and Achaïcus were the persons who carried St. Paul’s first Epistle to the Corinthians.
