Numb. xi. 24, 25, &c.ELDAD and MEDAD, were appointed by Moses to be of the number of the seventy Elders of Israel, who were to assist him in the government of the people; and though they were not present with their Collegues in the Assembly, they were notwithstanding filled with the Spirit of God, as the rest were, and began to prophesy in the Camp. Joshua having notice of it, and fearing lest this might be a prejudice to the honour of Moses, said to him, My Lord, forbid them. But Moses replied, Enviest thou for my sake? would to God that all the people prophesied, and that God would pour forth his Spirit upon them! There are some who believe, that Eldad and Medad were brothers to Moses; but these are traditions without any foundation.
