Salom. Deyling. in Ephes. 5. 18. de Hymnis a Christianis decantandis, tom. 3. ch. 44. Observ.
Gaspar à Lilian, among his Philological Dissertations, has one upon chap. 6. ver. 4. printed at Bareith, 1684, in 4to. He was of Berlin, a Lutheran Minister; and died in 1687.
John Gottlieb Lucis wrote against the foregoing Dissertation, by Hasæus, in defense of Carpzovius’s Opinion; printed at Lipsick, in 1705, in 4to. He was a German Lutheran. We have already spoken of this Work above.
John B. Ottius, and Theodore Hasæus, have each made a Dissertation upon the Sacrifice of a sweet smelling Savour, mentioned in chap. 5. ver. 2. printed in the Bibliotheca Philologica, tom. 2. p. 525; 1548. That of Ottius contains thirty Articles; wherein he particularly contends against the use of Incense in the Sacrifice of the New Law, pretending that it was not used till the fourteenth Century. That of Hasæus has but nine Articles; and treats only of different Sacrifices. We have already said something of him: And, for Ottius, he was of Zurich, a Calvinist, Professor of the Hebrew Tongue, and Deacon of the great Church of Zurich.
John George Schelborn has made an Observation upon the Jesting forbidden by St. Paul, in chap. 5. ver. 4. in the same Collection, tom. 5. p. 57, 66.
