BUL, the eighth month in the Hebrew Kalender, since called, Marshevan; it answers to our October. It is the second Month of the Civil, and the eighth of the Ecclesiastical Year. It is composed of nine and twenty days. The sixth Day of this Month was a fast, because on this Day Nebuchadnezzar put to death the Children of Zedekiah in the presence of this unhappy Prince, whose Eyes, after they had been witnesses to this sad spectacle, he ordered to be put out. See 2 Kings xxv. 7. We find the name of Bul mentioned only in 1 Kings vi. 38. in the reign of Solomon.
