QUAESTIO CXXX. Utrum Dominus matrem suam invitatam deduxerit?

Post haec quaeritur de invitatione et deductione.

Quod autem Dominus matrem suam invitatam deduxerit, videtur per locum a minori: quia

1. Dominus apparuit charo suo Joanni, et dixit: Dilecte mi, veni, etc. Si hoc fecit Christus Joanni, ergo potius matri. Item, si Joanni quia charus, ergo potius matri quae in infinitum charior fuit.

2. Item, Dicitur, I Paralip. XV, 3, quod David deduxit arcam in suam domum, etc. Item, ibidem, v. 29, qualiter luserit ante arcam, etc.: ergo Christus matrem suam specialiter deduxit.

3. Item, Opus misericordiae est sepelire mortuos: ergo et Pater misericordiarum potissime debuit exsequiis matris interesse, et eam sepulturae commendare: sed ipsius sepeliri, fuit in caelo super omnes choros Angelorum assumi: ergo debuit hoc Filius in persona propria et corporali praesentia facere ¹.

QUESTION 130. Whether the Lord led his mother after she had been invited?

After this inquiry is made about invitation and leading.

But that the Lord led his mother after she had been invited seems by an argument from the lesser, because:

1. The Lord appeared to his dear John and said, My beloved, come, etc. If Christ did this for John, then rather for his mother. Likewise, if for John because he was dear, then rather for his mother, who was infinitely dearer.

2. Likewise, it is said in 1 Chronicles 15:3 that David led the ark into his house, etc. Likewise, in the same place, verse 29, how he danced before the ark, etc. Therefore Christ specially led his mother.

3. Likewise, to bury the dead is a work of mercy. Therefore also the Father of mercies ought especially to have been present for the funeral rites of his mother and to have commended her to burial. But for her to be buried was to be assumed in heaven above all the choirs of Angels. Therefore the Son ought to have done this in his own person and with bodily presence ¹.
