ZACHARIAS PROPHETA.
In octavo mense 2.
1. Mater nostra est murus conservationis contra diabolum, mundum, et peccatum. Zachariae, II, 5: Ego ero murus ignis in circuitu. Glossa: defensio in eis. Et infra, v. 8: Qui tetigerit vos, detrahendo, persequendo, turbando, tangit pupillam oculi mei, quae statim vindicatur.
2. Item, Ipsa est lapis fundamenti, adornatus in plenitudine gratiarum. Zachar. III, 9: Ecce lapis quem dedi coram Jesu: super lapidem unum, id est, Mariam, septem oculi sunt, id est, plenitudo totius gratiae spiritualis.
3. Item, Ipsa est in Ecclesia candelabrum illuminationis. Zachar. IV, 2: Vidi, et ecce candelabrum aureum totum, id est, Maria, et lampas ejus, id est, Christus, super caput ipsius, et septem lucernae ejus super illud, id est, septem dona Spiritus sancti: et septem infusoria. Glossa: in quibus oleum misericordiae infunditur in lucernis, ut luceant in candelabro, id est, in Maria.
4. Item, Ipsa est lapis primarius. Zachar. IV, 7: Educet Dominus lapidem primarium, et exaequabit gratiam gratiae ejus. Glossa: Gratia lapidis exaequabit gratiam quam in peccatores exercuit.
5. Item, Ipsa est templum munitionis. Zachar. IX, 12: Haec dicit Dominus. Glossa: peccatoribus, justis, et omnibus: Convertimini. Glossa: fiducialiter, ad munitionem, id est, ad Mariam, vincti spei, et liberandi misericordia Dei.
6. Item, Ipsa est fons communicationis. Zachar. XIII, 1: Erit fons patens domui David. Glossa: id est, omnibus sitientibus, et habitantibus Jerusalem, in ablutionem peccatoris et menstruatae, id est, majorum criminalium peccatorum.
God: and the first power will come. Gloss: that is, Christ giving to you the second power in all things, so that you can say: All power has been given to me in heaven and on earth 1.
ZECHARIAH THE PROPHET.
In the eighth month 2.
1. Our mother is the wall of preservation against the devil, the world, and sin. Zechariah 2:5: I will be a wall of fire round about. Gloss: a defense in them. And below, verse 8: Whoever has touched you, by detracting, persecuting, troubling, touches the pupil of my eye, which is immediately avenged.
2. Likewise, she herself is the stone of the foundation, adorned in the fullness of graces. Zechariah 3:9: Behold the stone which I have set before Jesus; upon one stone, that is, Mary, there are seven eyes, that is, the fullness of all spiritual grace.
3. Likewise, she herself is the lampstand of illumination in the Church. Zechariah 4:2: I saw, and behold an entirely golden lampstand, that is, Mary, and its lamp, that is, Christ, upon its head, and its seven lamps upon it, that is, the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit; and seven funnels. Gloss: in these the oil of mercy is poured into the lamps, so that they may shine on the lampstand, that is, in Mary.
4. Likewise, she herself is the chief stone. Zechariah 4:7: The Lord will bring forth the chief stone, and he will equal grace to its grace. Gloss: The grace of the stone will equal the grace which she exercised toward sinners.
5. Likewise, she herself is the temple of fortification. Zechariah 9:12: Thus says the Lord. Gloss: to sinners, to the just, and to all: Turn back. Gloss: trustingly, to the fortification, that is, to Mary, bound ones of hope, and those to be freed by the mercy of God.
6. Likewise, she herself is the spring of communication. Zechariah 13:1: There will be an open spring for the house of David. Gloss: that is, for all those thirsting and dwelling in Jerusalem, for the washing of the sinner and of the menstruous woman, that is, of greater criminal sins.
