JOEL PROPHETA.
Verbum Domini, quod factum est ad Joel, filium Phatuel 1.
1. Domina nostra, Virgo Maria est illa ad quam omnis creatura respicit post Deum. Joel, I, 20: Sed et bestiae agri, id est, peccatores, quasi area sitiens imbrem veniae, suspexerunt ad te. Glossa: rorem misericordiae flagitantes, quoniam exsiccati sunt fontes aquarum: sed tu non, quae plenitudine gratiarum superabundas.
2. Item, Ipsa est fons domus Domini, irrigans ariditatem peccatorum. Joel, III, 18: In die illa, scilicet gratiae et misericordiae, fons de domo Domini, id est, Maria nascendo in mundo, egredietur, et irrigabit torrentem spinarum. Glossa: ut qui vitiorum punctionibus pungebantur, modo virtutum floribus adornentur.
JONAS PROPHETA.
Factum est verbum Domini ad Jonam, filium Amathi, dicens 2.
1. Mater misericordiae est mare, quod numquam per desideria et suspirationes quiescere potuit, donec verus Jonas, id est, Dei Filius, in ipsum per incarnationem missus fuit. Jonae, I, 11 et seq.: Dixerunt viri ad Jonam. Glossa: Jona, qui interpretatur columba, Christus est: Quid faciemus tibi, et cessabit mare a nobis? Et dixit ad eos: Tollite me, et mittite in mare, id est, in Mariam, ditissimum in pauperrimam, sublimissimum in humillimam, Dominum in ancillam. Et tulerunt Jonam, id est, Christum. Glossa: non repugnantem, sed voluntati Patris voluntarie obedientem: et miserunt in mare, id est, in uterum Mariae cum angelico honore et obsequio.
MICHAEAS PROPHETA.
Verbum Domini quod factum est ad Michaeam, etc. 3.
1. Maria est turris potentiae Dei. Michaeae, IV, 8: Turris gregis, id est, munimentum, nebulosa, obumbrans et abscondens peccatores, usque ad te veniet. Glossa:

1. Our Lady, the Virgin Mary, is she to whom every creature looks after God. Joel 1:20: But even the beasts of the field, that is, sinners, like a threshing floor thirsting for the rain of pardon, have looked up to you. Gloss: demanding the dew of mercy, because the springs of waters have dried up; but not you, who superabound with the fullness of graces.
2. Likewise, she herself is the spring of the house of the Lord, watering the dryness of sinners. Joel 3:18: On that day, namely of grace and mercy, a spring from the house of the Lord, that is, Mary by being born in the world, shall go forth and water the torrent of thorns. Gloss: so that those who were pierced by the stings of vices may now be adorned by the flowers of virtues.
JONAH THE PROPHET.
The word of the Lord came to Jonah, the son of Amathi, saying 2.
1. The mother of mercy is the sea which could never rest through desires and sighings until the true Jonah, that is, the Son of God, was sent into it through the incarnation. Jonah 1:11 and following: The men said to Jonah. Gloss: Jonah, which is interpreted dove, is Christ: What shall we do to you, and the sea will cease from us? And he said to them: Take me and cast me into the sea, that is, into Mary, the richest into the poorest, the highest into the lowest, the Lord into the handmaid. And they took Jonah, that is, Christ. Gloss: not resisting, but voluntarily obeying the will of the Father; and they cast him into the sea, that is, into the womb of Mary, with angelic honor and service.
MICAH THE PROPHET.
The word of the Lord which came to Micah, and so forth 3.
1. Mary is the tower of the power of God. Micah 4:8: Tower of the flock, that is, a defense, cloudy, overshadowing and hiding sinners, it shall come all the way to you. Gloss:
