12: Aperiet Dominus.

7. Item, Ipsa est thalamus deliciarum Dei. Deuter. XXXIII, 12: Et ait Benjamin: Amantissimus Domini. Glossa: id est, Christus Filius Dei, in thalamo, id est, in Maria, tota die morabitur. Glossa: "Nullo vitio alienatus aliquando." Glossa: "Inter bona opera."

8. Item, Ipsa est mater inflammationis, mater custoditionis, mater instructionis. De his tribus, Deuter. XXXIII, 2 et 3: In dextera ejus, id est, Maria, ignea lex. Glossa: id est, charitas, qua sanctos facilius amore sui succendit. Secundo, Omnes sancti ad custodiam in manu illius.

12: The Lord will open. The Gloss: being appeased, he who at one time, being angry, had closed his best treasure, heaven; heaven, that is, Mary, so that he may give rain to the earth. The Gloss: to the hearts of earthly persons. For through her the Lord rains grace upon us for driving away the dryness of the soul and for conferring the fruitfulness of virtues.

7. Likewise, she is the bridal chamber of God's delights. Deuteronomy XXXIII, 12: And he said to Benjamin: The most beloved of the Lord. The Gloss: that is, Christ the Son of God, will dwell the whole day in the bridal chamber, that is, in Mary. The Gloss: "At no time alienated by any vice." Hence there he will be found by those seeking, and he will rest between her shoulders. The Gloss: "Among good works."

8. Likewise, she is the mother of enkindling, the mother of guarding, the mother of instruction. Concerning these three, Deuteronomy XXXIII, 2 and 3: In his right hand, that is, Mary, a fiery law. The Gloss: that is, charity, by which she more easily sets the saints aflame with love of herself. Second, All saints are in her hand for guardianship. Likewise: And those who approach her feet. The Gloss: "That they may learn, and humbly receive from her doctrine." Look for what she teaches.

BOOK OF JOSHUA.

And it happened after the death of Moses 1.

1. The Lady of Angels, Mother of God, is the boundary of our inheritance. Joshua I, 2 and following: The Lord said to Joshua, that is, to every one serving God: Every place that is above (the Lord does not wish to give them a place on earth, which is base, but above, which is best, and this because he loves us), which the footprint of your foot shall tread, I will hand over to you..., from the desert and Lebanon as far as the great river Euphrates, that is, Mary. Note the uses of a great river, and adapt them. And as far as the great sea, that is, as far as Christ, who is compared to a great sea, will be your boundary. The Gloss: "So that you may not only become an heir of God, but a coheir of Christ."

2. Likewise, she is the window of escape. Joshua II, 17 and 18: The spies said to Rahab: We shall be guiltless of the oath..., if this scarlet cord shall not be the sign. The Gloss: that is, reddened by his blood; and if you shall have tied it in the window through which you let us down.

3. She is also the window which, through the cord, that is, through her Son, lets sinners down so that they may escape, and draws the just.

4. Likewise, she is the ark of showing the direct way into heaven; hence we ought to follow her swiftly. Joshua III, 6: Joshua, that is, Christ, said: Take up the ark of the covenant and go before the people; for the ark will go before us by ascending into heaven, by preparing a place, by advocating for us, by drawing us to herself through the Jordan.
