4. Item, Ipsa tamquam arca foederis praecessit nos in caelum, ad praeparandum nobis locum. Numer. X, 33 et 34: Arca foederis Domini, id est, Maria, praecedebat eos, quod factum est in assumptione, per dies tres providens locum castrorum. Nubes quoque Domini super eos erat per diem cum incederent. 10. Likewise, she is the star of illumination. Numbers XXIV, 17: A star will arise, namely through the nativity, that is, Mary, who is well compared to the star of the sea, from Jacob; and a rod will rise, that is, Christ, from Israel, namely from the root of Jesse 2; and he will strike the leaders of Moab, that is, the demons, freeing and saving us from sins.
