5. Likewise, she is the tabernacle of union between us and God. Leviticus XXVI, 11 and following: I will set my tabernacle firmly in the midst of you. The Lord spoke to Moses 1.
1. The queen of the world, Lady of heaven, Mother of God, is called the mother of concealment and wrapping; for she wraps the Son of God with our humanity, sinners with compassion, the just and the servants of God with protection. Numbers IV, 6 and following: They shall spread a whole hyacinth cloak, that is, Mary. Note the office of the cloak, and adapt it to the Virgin. They shall cover the lampstand, that is, Christ in the incarnation. All the vessels with which service is rendered to the sanctuary, that is, all the servants of Christ who serve God, they shall wrap in the hyacinth cloak, because she will protect all who serve her Son.
2. She is also the tabernacle of sinners, which was sanctified for the cleansing of others; which was completed for the enrichment of the poor; which was erected for the exaltation of the abject: sanctified in conception and nativity; completed in the incarnation of the Son of God; erected in her glorious assumption. Concerning these three, Numbers VII, 1: Moses. The Gloss: that is, Christ, on the day on which he completed the tabernacle, by filling her with every grace. Luke I, 28: Hail, full of grace.
