Haec sunt nomina filiorum Israel 3.
1. Beatissima Domina regina caeli, mater Dei dicitur fiscella absconsionis 4: unde cum jam tempore gratiae celare non posset, scilicet Deus Pater, quin Filium suum a saeculis absconditum mundo manifestaret, sumpsit fiscellam scirpeam, id est, Mariam, et linivit eam bitumine ac pice: posuitque intus infantulum, id est, Christum, in incarnatione, et exposuit eum in carecto ripae, ubi eminus accessus est. Expedit enim res aliqua quandoque ad ostendendum, quandoque ad vendendum, quandoque ad dandum. Sic Christus.
2. Ipsa est etiam rubus apparitionis. Exodi, III, 2: Apparuit ei (Moysi) Dominus in flamma ignis de medio rubi, id est, Mariae: et videbat quod arderet, et non combureretur.
3. Ipsa est etiam virga divisionis. Exod. XIV, 15 et 16: Quid clamas ad me? Loquere filiis Israel ut proficiscantur: tu autem eleva virgam tuam, id est, Mariam, per devotionem, et extende manum tuam super mare omnium tribulationum, et tentationum. Et divide illud. These are the names of the sons of Israel 3.
1. The most blessed Lady, queen of heaven, mother of God, is called the little basket of hiding 4; hence, when now in the time of grace he could not hide, namely God the Father could not hide, without manifesting to the world his Son hidden from the ages, he took a basket of rushes, that is, Mary, and smeared it with bitumen and pitch; and he placed the little infant inside, that is, Christ, in the incarnation, and set him out in the sedge of the river-bank, where approach was from afar. For a thing is sometimes brought out for showing, sometimes for selling, sometimes for giving. So Christ.
2. She is also the bush of apparition. Exodus III, 2: The Lord appeared to him, Moses, in a flame of fire from the midst of the bush, that is, Mary; and he saw that it burned and was not consumed.
3. She is also the rod of division. Exodus XIV, 15 and 16: Why do you cry to me? Speak to the sons of Israel that they set out; but you, lift up your rod, that is, Mary, through devotion, and stretch out your hand over the sea of all tribulations and temptations. And divide it.
