XXXVII. Ninth Sunday after the Feast of Trinity, Prayer
XXXVII. Dominica nona post festum Trinitatis, Oratio. Homo quidam erat dives, qui habebat villicum 1. Domine Jesu Christe, fac animam meam villam poenitentiae, castrum continentiae, civitatem justitiae, ne villicus tuus ratio mea dissipet bona tua: quia ablata post mortem villicatione nescio quid faciam meritorie, cum fodere non possim per poenitentiam, et erubescam mendicare per rationem. Remitte vi cognitivae centum cados olei quos tibi debet per contemplationem, et vi motivae centum coros tritici quos tibi debet per operationem. De mammona triplicis inaequalitatis, necessitatis, cupiditatis, et charitatis, amici tui pauperes, qui amici mundi non sunt, qui te diligunt et tibi conformantur; fiant nostri apud te intercessores, patroni, advocati, portitores, conductores, ostiarii, et thesaurarii: ut cum defecerimus, recipiant et reficiant nos in domos suas et in aeterna tabernacula. Amen.
XXXVII. Ninth Sunday after the Feast of Trinity, Prayer. There was a certain rich man who had a steward 1. Lord Jesus Christ, make my soul a farm of penitence, a camp of continence, a city of justice, lest your steward, my reason, dissipate your goods; because when the stewardship has been taken away after death, I do not know what I may do meritoriously, since I cannot dig through penitence and I blush to beg through reason. Remit to the cognitive power the hundred jars of oil that it owes you through contemplation, and to the motive power the hundred measures of wheat that it owes you through operation. From the mammon of the threefold inequality, of necessity, cupidity, and charity, may your poor friends, who are not friends of the world, who love you and are conformed to you, become for us before you intercessors, patrons, advocates, carriers, guides, doorkeepers, and treasurers, so that when we have failed, they may receive and refresh us in their houses and in eternal tabernacles. Amen.
