Little Question Two of Principal Question One

Whence it is that one person has a sharper or slower understanding than another

It is asked whether it is from the stars or from other accidental causes that one person has a sharper or slower understanding than another.

To this it is answered that it does not arise from some influential power impressed upon the human body by the stars at the time of birth that one human being has a sharper or slower understanding.

This is proved because the rational cognitive power is not directly subjected to the stars, as was said immediately above. Consequently, they cannot per se make an impression upon the intellect, although they can indeed do so per accidens.

These things are from Albert and Henry.
