As promised: On God the Creator — the De Deo Creatore of Camillo Cardinal Mazzella, S.J., in English for the first time, and presented with the original Latin and the English translation side by side.
This is the book with which the great lecture-cycle began. Years before Leo XIII called him to Rome, Fr. Mazzella delivered these lectures to the students of theology at Woodstock College in Maryland in 1872–73, and printed them at the college press in 1873. Six disputations in fifty-five articles, through a continuous numeration of 831 sections: on the origin of the world through true creation; on the origin and nature of man; on man’s elevation to the supernatural state; on the fall and original sin; on man’s last things — beatitude, hell, purgatory, and the resurrection of the body; and on the angels. Alongside St. Thomas and Suárez stand the questions of his own century — Kant and Hegel, and the new theories of the origin of man.
Every article may be read with the Latin and English side by side, or in either language alone, at the reader’s choice.
