2. Item, Ipsa est speculum bonitatis Dei, et speculum imitationis. Sapient. VII, 26: Candor est lucis aeternae, et speculum sine macula. Glossa: Etiam venialis peccati, et imago bonitatis illius, scilicet Dei.
3. Item, Ipsa est unctrix Dei et hominis, quae attingit a fine misericordiarum Dei, usque ad finem miseriarum hominis peccatoris. Sapient. VIII, 1: Sapientia attingit a fine usque ad finem fortiter, etc.
4. Item, Ipsa est mater communicationis omnium bonorum: et mater consolationis, taedium auferens per piam consolationem, et allocutionem sapientiae. Sapient. VIII, 9: Proposui ergo hanc, scilicet Mariam, adducere mihi ad convivendum per devotionem, ipsam ad me venire invitans: sciens quoniam mecum communicabit largiter, fideliter, et humiliter, et utiliter de bonis gratiae et gloriae, et erit allocutio cogitationis et taedii mei. LIBER ECCLESIASTICUS.
Omnis sapientia a Domino Deo est 1.
1. Θεοτοκος, Virgo Maria, dicitur fidelissima susceptrix servorum suorum. Eccli. IV, 12: Sapientia, id est, Maria, filiis suis vitam inspirat, gratiae, et gloriae, et Deus per ipsam suscipit gloriose inquirentes se, humiliter, et devote, et praeibit in via justitiae, scilicet per gratiam in praesenti, et postea in morte, praeibit ad viam gloriae: et quo introibit? Glossa, ibi, Benedicet Deus, illum scilicet ditans, et conservans. Genes. XXX, 30, dixit Jacob ad Laban: Benedixitque tibi Dominus ad introitum meum, multo fortius ad introitum Mariae.

Item, Ipsa est mater honorificata 2, quae ciblat esurientem filium, potat sitientem, exaltat vivificatum, implet vacuum, thesaurizat gratiam et gloriam super egentem, et nomine aeterno glorificat se diligentem. Haec sex matris gloriosae beneficia tanguntur, Eccli. XV, 2 et seq.: Obviabit illi quasi mater honorificata. Et, Cibabit illum. Et, Potabit illum. Et, Nomine aeterno haereditabit illum.
3. Item, Ipsa est lumen justitiae. Eccli. XXIV, 6: Ego feci in caelis ut oriretur lumen indeficiens, id est, Maria, et sicut nebula texi omnem terram.
4. Item, Ipsa est thalamus requiei, in quo numquam Filius Dei per aliquod peccatum inquietatus fuit. Eccli. XXIV, 11: In omnibus requiem quaesivi, et non inveni nisi in Maria, propterea in haereditate Domini morabor, hoc est, in Maria, quae antonomastice portio et haereditas Domini nuncupatur: unde propter hanc requiem ab Ecclesia ei dicitur, quod Domino caeli praebuit hospitium
2. Likewise, she is the mirror of the goodness of God, and the mirror of imitation. Wisdom VII, 26: She is the brightness of eternal light, and a spotless mirror. The Gloss: even of venial sin; and the image of his goodness, namely of God.
3. Likewise, she is the anointress of God and man, who reaches from the end of the mercies of God even to the end of the miseries of sinful man. Wisdom VIII, 1: Wisdom reaches strongly from end to end, etc.
4. Likewise, she is the mother of the communication of all goods, and the mother of consolation, removing weariness through pious consolation and the address of wisdom. Wisdom VIII, 9: Therefore I purposed to bring this one, namely Mary, to me for living together through devotion, inviting her to come to me, knowing that she will share with me generously, faithfully, humbly, and usefully from the goods of grace and glory, and she will be the address of my thought and weariness. The Gloss: Address, that is, alleviation.
THE BOOK OF ECCLESIASTICUS.
All wisdom is from the Lord God 1.
1. Theotokos, the Virgin Mary, is called the most faithful receiver of her servants. Ecclesiasticus IV, 12: Wisdom, that is, Mary, breathes life, of grace and glory, into her sons, and God through her receives gloriously those who seek him, humbly and devoutly, and she will go before in the way of justice, namely through grace in the present, and afterward in death she will go before to the way of glory. And where will she enter? The Gloss, there: God will bless, namely enriching and preserving him. Genesis XXX, 30, Jacob said to Laban: And the Lord blessed you at my entrance; much more at the entrance of Mary.
2. Likewise, she is the honored mother 2, who feeds the hungry son, gives drink to the thirsty one, exalts the one made alive, fills the empty one, lays up grace and glory over the needy one, and glorifies with an eternal name the one loving her. These six benefits of the glorious mother are touched on, Ecclesiasticus XV, 2 and following: She will meet him as an honored mother. And, She will feed him. And, She will give him drink. And, She will make him inherit an eternal name.
3. Likewise, she is the light of justice. Ecclesiasticus XXIV, 6: I made an unfailing light arise in the heavens, that is, Mary, and like a cloud I covered all the earth.
4. Likewise, she is the bridal chamber of rest, in which the Son of God was never disturbed by any sin. Ecclesiasticus XXIV, 11: In all things I sought rest, and I found it only in Mary; therefore I shall dwell in the inheritance of the Lord, that is, in Mary, who antonomastically is called the portion and inheritance of the Lord. Hence, because of this rest, it is said to her by the Church that she offered hospitality of her holy body to the Lord of heaven
