XLIII. Fifteenth Sunday after the Feast of Trinity, Prayer
XLIII. Dominica decima quinta post festum Trinitatis, Oratio. Nemo potest duobus dominis servire 1. Domine Jesu Christe, quia nemo potest duobus dominis servire propter contrarietatem obsequiorum, libera nos a dominio et servitute mundi, carnis, et diaboli: ut respiciamus contemplativos Angelos quibus pluris nos esse voluisti, dum naturam nostram assumpsisti. Adjice ad staturam nostrae naturae cubitum gratiae in praesenti, et gloriae in futuro: ut consideremus lilia agri cooperta candore virtutum, mentem scilicet, potius quam faenum divites saeculi, qui in crastino aeternitatis in clibanum gehennae ignis mittuntur. Quaeramus praecipue regnum Dei, et justitiam ejus: ut viatico temporalium per viam virtutum perveniamus ad finem, scilicet regnum caelorum. Amen.
XLIII. Fifteenth Sunday after the Feast of Trinity, Prayer. No one can serve two masters 1. Lord Jesus Christ, because no one can serve two masters because of the contrariety of services, free us from the lordship and servitude of the world, the flesh, and the devil, so that we may look upon the contemplative Angels, than whom you willed us to be of greater value when you assumed our nature. Add to the stature of our nature a cubit of grace in the present and of glory in the future, so that we may consider the lilies of the field, covered with the whiteness of virtues, namely the mind, rather than the hay, the rich persons of the world, who on the morrow of eternity are cast into the oven of the fire of Gehenna. Let us seek chiefly the kingdom of God and his justice, so that, with temporal things as provision for the way, through the way of virtues, we may arrive at the end, namely the kingdom of heaven. Amen.
