II. Dominica secunda in Adventu Domini, Oratio. Erunt signa in Sole et Luna, et stellis ¹. Domine Jesu Christe, fili hominis, veni in nubibus poenitentiae, et resolve cor meum in pluviam lacrymarum: in potestate magna ejice vitiorum daemonia, et majestate regna in anima mea: ut fiat in terris carnalitatis meae pressura Gentium, scilicet incircumcisorum: prae confusione sonitus confessionis, maris contritionis, fluctuum affectionum: arescentibus humanis concupiscentiis, prae timore gehennae et exspectatione gloriae quae superveniet universo orbi. Virtutes caelorum meorum, superior videlicet et inferior portio rationis, moveantur de exercitio bonae affectionis ad studium contemplationis. Appropinqua mihi, o redemptio nostra, et fac me respicere et levare caput mentis meae ad te, imitari signa in sole, luna, et stellis: in te sicut sole justitiae, in tua matre Virgine, et in omnibus sanctis tuis bonorum actuum exempla. Videam ficulneam sentiendo tuae charitatis dulcedinem: et omnium virtutum arbores producant in me fructum, ut mihi sit prope aestas regni caelorum, cum caelum animae et terra corporis mei transierint ad te Verbum intransitivum. II. Second Sunday in the Advent of the Lord, Prayer. There will be signs in the Sun and Moon, and in the stars ¹. Lord Jesus Christ, Son of Man, come in the clouds of penitence, and dissolve my heart into a rain of tears; with great power cast out the demons of vices, and in majesty reign in my soul, so that there may be, in the lands of my carnality, distress of the Gentiles, that is, of the uncircumcised, because of the confusion of the sound of confession, of the sea of contrition, of the waves of affections, while human concupiscences are drying up because of fear of Gehenna and expectation of the glory that will come upon the whole world. Let the powers of my heavens, namely the higher and lower portion of reason, be moved from the exercise of good affection to the study of contemplation. Draw near to me, O our redemption, and make me look back and lift up the head of my mind to you, to imitate the signs in sun, moon, and stars: in you, as in the sun of justice; in your Virgin mother; and in all your saints, examples of good acts. Let me see the fig tree by feeling the sweetness of your charity, and let the trees of all virtues bring forth fruit in me, so that for me the summer of the kingdom of heaven may be near, when the heaven of my soul and the earth of my body have passed over to you, the intransitive Word. Amen.
